How can I upgrade or downgrade my account?
You can easily upgrade or downgrade your account any time. Just contact us with your changes.
Can I run Ruby/Rails inside my mCAB?
Yup! By default we offer Apache + Passenger setup but we can easily customize your mCAB to suit your needs. Want Mongrel? No problem! Nginx + Thin? We're on it!
Can I buy more bandwidth, storage, or memory?
Easily! Check out our add-ons or you can upgrade to the next plan for a better package discount.
I need to migrate from my current host, can you help?
Migrating a site alone can sometimes be tricky. However we've done it so many times, we have it down to a science. Feel free to ping us and we'll handle it for you, free of charge.
Do you offer backups?
We are currently working on a customer backup solution and we'll be launching it soon. If you need backups now contact us and we'll set something up. We do maintain our own internal backups for catastrophic events.
Can you manage my DNS?
You betcha. Not only can DNS be tricky to maintain, it can also be a pain when you have tons of domains.
Can I register Domains or purchase SSL certificates from you?
We don't currently offer registration or SSL purchases, but we can assist you with using third-party solutions.
How many mCABs fit on a machine?
First, we are very sensitive to overloading our machines. Second, there's no easy answer. Other factors such as CPU intensity and bandwidth requirements complicate the issue. Rest assured, we take great pains in tweaking our servers to run effectively.
What is a vCPU?
A vCPU is a Virtual CPU. It corresponds with how much CPU time is dedicated to an mCAB. mCAB 1 and 2 gets 2 vCPUs while mCAB 3 and 4 gets 4 vCPUs. In other words, for every second an mCAB 1 can use, an mCAB 4 gets to use 2. "One for you, two for me. One for...."
Do you offer an SLA?
Not exactly. We are constantly planning and evaluating disaster scenarios in order to keep our servers up. In an event your site goes down, we promise to bust our buns to get it back up ASAP.
Which distribution(s) do you offer?
We currently offer a heavily modified version of Ubuntu tailored for our customers’ needs.
Do you have a Control Panel?
Our control panel is currently under heavy development and we're slotted to launch it soon.
How long do Upgrades take?
Upgrades will occur within 24 hours. There may need to be scheduled downtime in order to add more space or memory, but don't worry: you decide when we do that.
Do I need to sign a contract?
No way! We hate both contracts and setup fees and we don't want to subject our customers to them.
How many domains can I host?
We think limiting domains is an old way of thinking of hosting. As long as you're within your limits you can host as many as you like.
Do I get a discount for purchasing multiple mCABs?
We don't currently offer bulk-purchasing discounts.
How many databases can I have?
In an mCAB you get an unlimited number of databases. Just contact us and we'll quickly add one for you.
Can I create virtual FTP users?
We don't limit the number of virtual FTP users in mCABs. Just contact us and we'll quickly add one for you.
Can I add additional IP addresses?
You can easily add additional IP addresses by purchasing them in our add-ons section.
Can I enable root access to my mCAB?
Short answer: no. Detailed answer: our clients have repeatedly expressed how great it is not worrying about managing their servers. That being said, we realize some organizations require custom-installed software. Instead of granting root access, we'd rather work with your organization in order to add the custom install to our stack of managed software. If an organization insists on root access they can contact us to discuss their needs.
What happens when I go over my bandwidth?
We charge $5.97/GB for any bandwidth overages. Don't worry though, our control panel will notify you when you get close to your limit. If you're expecting large unusually large spikes, contact us and we can work something out.
